Hi there. If you've clicked onto this page, the chances are you're a small press or indy publisher who wants to get their comic or graphic novel out to a wider readership.
Right, the first thing I want to say, is that having your comic sold by smallzone, isn't just a listing on the website. I also attend Marts and Conventions all over the country selling your comics to those who might never before have had an interest in small press comics.
Those publishers who produce comics and graphic novels of a professional standard will also be eligible to list their titles in our online catalogue called FRONTLINE, which is available to all UK comics retailers. (For more info on this go to: www.smallzone.co.uk/faq.htm )
So, that's what you get. 'How much does this service cost?' I hear you ask. Well there are 3 levels of service designed to cater for every type of self publisher, from the very small to the professional. The RUBY, GOLD and the SILVER rates. There is no up front payment for any of our service, only a small percentage of your cover price from comics sold. The three rates charged and the service offered for each are as follows:
THE SILVER RATE:
With the silver rate you get a basic listing on the smallzone website, which offers your comics to readers worldwide.
The Silver rate is a simple 30% from your cover price.
THE GOLD RATE:
The Gold Rate is a simple 40% from your cover price, and only comics priced at 1 pound or over can be accepted under those conditions.
With the gold rate you receive a basic listing on the website plus your comic is offered directly to readers at marts and conventions all over the UK.
Your title will also be added to the rota for display in the smallzone retail outlet in Shrewsbury.
THE RUBY RATE:
The Ruby Rate is a simple 50% from your cover price, and only comics priced at 1 pound or over can be accepted under those conditions.
With the ruby rate you receive a basic listing on the website, your book is offered to readers directly at marts and conventions, and, provided your comics is of a professional standard, may also be offered to UK retailers via the Frontline Online Catalogue at a 40% discount.
Your title will also be added to the rota for display in the smallzone retail outlet in Shrewsbury.
All previous agreements with publishers will remain the same, unless publishers send me written confirmation that they'd prefer to swap to a new rate.
So now you have the commission structures you need to know how to submit your comic for retail and/or distribution:
First of all I need a sample copy of your comic to see if it's what I'm after.
If your books are not yet ready for Professional distribution via Frontline I can sill list them on the main website and sell them at marts and conventions for you.
You also need to email me images. I will need a gif. or Jpeg. of the cover and preferably 4 images of interior artwork at 72 - 150dpi. You can also send images on a disk with your sample copy if you like.
If you are listing in Fontline, please also feel free to send me embedding urls for your own e-books, utube trailers podcasts, or any other promotional media you have online that can be used to help promote your work, as it can all be intergrated into your Frontline listing.
Once we are both happy with a commision rate, you can print out and fill in the Conditions Of Agreement form (keeping a copy for yourself ) and send it along with any copies of your comic that you wish me to sell on a sale or return basis until you need the comics back or they're all gone. In which case I will order some more.
Orders through Frontline from retailers will be paid for as of the terms and conditions with no risk of returns, so long as you deliver within 7 working days.
I will send you a Bi -monthly cheque with your share of the money raised from web sales, along with whatever you are owed from retailer orders. Payments under £25 will roll over to the next two months.
Remember to put your pay pal email address on the COA form.
